The Best Ways to Take MSM

Pure MSM has a slightly bitter flavor, and that's on purpose. To make our MSM as pure and effective as possible, we did not use any additional flavoring or ingredients. It is 3rd party tested, 4x distilled, and made in the USA. If your MSM tastes any other way, you better check and see what else is in there!

The good news: the bitterness fades fast, and there are plenty of easy ways to take it. Most of our customers adapt to the taste quickly and actually mention they end up craving it after taking it for a few weeks.

Here are the methods our customers use most, plus answers to the questions we hear every day.

5 Easy Ways to Take MSM

1. The Water Shot (most popular)
Dissolve your scoop in 1–2 oz of water, take it quickly, then follow with water, coffee, or juice. Channel your inner college self, we promise it is way easier than a tequila shot (or a wheatgrass shot)! Down it, chase it, done.

💡 Quick tip: MSM dissolves faster and more completely in warm water.

2. Coffee or Juice Mini-Mix (easiest way to mask the taste)
Swap the water for a small splash of coffee or juice. Drink it quickly, then follow with more of the same drink or a glass of water. The taste is gone almost instantly.

3. Lemon Water
Add a squeeze of fresh lemon to your water. The bright acidity helps cover the bitterness. Follow it with some more lemon water.

4. Warm Water + Honey
Stir a small spoonful of honey into warm water with your scoop, then follow with a glass of water (and a little more honey if you want, we won't tell).

5. The Direct Scoop (the pro move)
For the fastest option with zero cleanup, pour your scoop straight into your mouth and wash it down right away. Have your drink in hand because dry powder can make you cough. Fair warning: this is the boldest way to experience the taste.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Should I take MSM with food or on an empty stomach?

Either works. Most people take it on an empty stomach with no issues. If you notice any stomach discomfort, try taking it with a meal.

What is the best time of day to take MSM?

Consistency matters more than timing. Pick times you can stick to every day. Many customers say MSM gives them a boost of energy, so we suggest taking it in the morning and early afternoon rather than close to bedtime.

What dosage do you recommend?

Start with ¼–½ scoop twice a day and work up to 1 scoop twice a day over a week or two, or follow your healthcare provider's guidance (1 scoop = 4 grams).

Everyone is different, so listen to your body and find the amount that works for you. If you're pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a health condition, check with your healthcare provider before starting.

Can you take MSM with other supplements?

Yes. MSM pairs easily with most daily supplements, and many customers take it alongside their multivitamin, collagen, vitamin C, fish oil, or creatine. There's also an added potential benefit: MSM is thought to support healthy cell membranes, and some researchers believe this may help cells take in nutrients more efficiently. In other words, MSM may help you get more from the supplements you already take.

The one exception is binders. If you use activated charcoal, bentonite clay, zeolite, or chlorella, take them at least 2 hours apart from MSM. Binders work by grabbing onto substances in your gut and carrying them out of your body, and they can't tell the difference between what you want to remove and what you want to absorb. Taken together, a binder can trap your MSM (and your other supplements) before your body has a chance to use them. Spacing them out lets each one do its job.

If you take prescription medications or have a health condition, check with your healthcare provider before adding anything new.
